Jimmie Martin Designs- Perfectly Imperfect

As we near Maison & Objet 2015 in Paris this month we would like to share some of our favorite finds that make this show well worth a visit, not that Paris itself isn’t reason enough. You will find a complete recap of all highlights from the show in early February but for today, let’s focus on one of London’s most iconic pop-art exports, Jimmie Martin.

To clarify, Jimmie Martin are actually two people. Design duo Jimmie Karlsson and Martin Nihlmar have been collaborating on their furniture, lighting and home accessories collections since 2004 and are now represented through exclusive dealers around the world.

Best known for Jimmie’s ability to blend traditional decadence with urban and eclectic elements, Jimmie Martin pieces are easily recognized for their fun colors and bold subject matter. A bit of British tongue-in-cheek on grandma’s settee so to speak.

Recently, Jimmie Martin have added lines of lighting and wallpaper to their collections and for those one a budget, pillows are also available. With Jimmie Martin, a little goes a long way so no need to start overinvesting.

In fact, Jimmie’s own apartment features an eclectic mix of his own designs, exquisite vintage pieces and pieces from IKEA (top image), including a sofa that he made more interesting by turning the slip covers inside out, and EbayEBay, which includes a $30 metal filing cabinet. (bottom image)

Jimmie Martin’s mantra may very well be that in a perfect world it’s ok to be imperfect and that’s just fine by us.
For more from Maison & Objet please look for our reviews in early February and if you happen to be in Paris this month, please be sure to tell Jimmie we said hello!
